Freezer Rooms — Built for Low Temperature Performance

The Panel Specification Matters More in a Freezer Room

Freezer rooms operate under significantly more demanding thermal conditions than standard cool rooms. The greater temperature differential between inside and outside demands a higher-specification panel — thicker insulation core, lower thermal conductivity, and correctly specified facing material — to prevent thermal bridging, control condensation, and maintain efficient operation over the long term.

Because MCR manufactures its own EPS FR panels, we can specify exactly the right panel for your freezer room’s temperature requirements — not whatever happens to be available from a third-party supplier. Our 100mm (R-Value 2.64 m²K/W) and 150mm (R-Value 3.84 m²K/W) panels are typically used in freezer room builds, with the correct specification selected based on your operating temperature and room size.

Panel Specifications for Freezer Applications

All panels: 1200mm wide, Colorbond Steel Surfmist 0.6mm skin both sides, antibacterial surface, EPS core 16kg/m³, fire rated Group 2 to AS ISO 9705, male and female join for tight secure installation.

Freezer Door Specifications

The door is a critical performance point in any freezer room. MCR supplies custom size freezer doors — swinging or sliding — in 75mm and 150mm thicknesses to suit the panel specification of your freezer room. Correct door specification ensures the thermal continuity of the room envelope and prevents the performance losses that come from a mismatched door and panel combination.
